An 8.8 magnitude earthquake struck around 12:30 AM Central near Chile on the west coast of South America.

Tsunami Warnings are in effect for most areas bordering Pacific Ocean, including Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, New Zealand, Japan and the Phillipines.
