The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has issued a Slight (SLGT) Risk of severe weather across much of South Dakota, Nebraska, and Iowa today.

The main threat with these storms will be damaging winds to 70mph. Tornadoes are also possible.

The latest excerpts from SPC:
"...PRIMARY SEVERE THREAT WILL BE ASSOCIATED WITH CONVERGENCE BOTH AHEAD OF SURFACE LOW AND ALONG FRONTAL ZONE. THIS POINTS TO NEB/SRN SD AND WRN IA WHERE MLCAPES BY MID-AFTERNOON CLIMB ABOVE 4000 J/KG. EVEN WITH MARGINAL DEEP LAYER SHEAR...LOW LEVEL VEERING PROFILES...PARTICULARLY VICINITY FRONTAL ZONE SUPPORT SUPERCELLS. TORNADOES WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH ANY SUPERCELL THRU THE EVENING."
