Wind Damage Reported - 7/31/08

Bow echo/derecho continues moving southeast across the Upper Midwest today. Winds of 70+ MPH still causing damage. Storms are now closing in on the Chicago metro area.

Earlier this afternoon, the powerful winds destroyed a building near Kent, Illinois and reportedly trapped a person inside.

Trees and power lines are down in Platteville, WI. A porta-potty was blown 20 feet in Owatonna, MN, and a semi truck was blown over on I-35 near Faribault, MN.

Tornado Warning for Goodhue, Rice, and Steele counties in Minnesota. Possible tornado is southeast of Faribault.

Meanwhile, a large bow echo is also racing across southern Minnesota. Numerous reports of wind damage are coming in. Earlier this morning, strong winds toppled trees and brought down many trees in Webster, SD, Madison, MN, Olivia, MN, and Mankato, MN.

Tornado Warning for Chippewa, Swift, and Kandiohi counties in Minnesota. Includes the city of Willmar.
