Another Slight Risk - 6/20/08

8:25 PM CDT
The tornado warning for eastern Adams county in Colorado has been allowed to expire. However, the National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning on the same cell for Lincoln and Elbert counties until 7:45 PM MDT. This storm has a history of producing confirmed tornadoes. If it stays on it's current track it will come very near Limon and Genoa which both sit on I-70. Once again, if you are in this area, please seek shelter immediately. If you have family or friends in the area please call them and warn them of this approaching storm.

7:37 PM CDT
The SPC has issued Severe Thunderstorm Watch #588 effective until 11:00 PM CDT. This watch box covers the Oklahoma Panhandle, and a portion of the Texas panhandle as well

7:13 PM CDT
The National Weather Service in Denver has issued a Tornado warning for eastern Adams county in Colorado until 6:45 PM MDT. At 6:11 PM MDT law enforcement reported a tornado near Adena. This storm was located 8 miles northeast of Leader moving south at 30 MPH.

Locations in the warning include -- but are not limited to -- Shamrock and Leader. If you are in this area please take shelter immediately. If you have family or friends in this area please call them and let them know that this dangerous storm is on the way.

5:28 PM CDT
The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado warning for Custer county in Nebraska effective until 5:45 PM CDT.

4:59 PM CDT
The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning for Montgomery and Pottawattamie counties in Iowa effective until 5:30 PM CDT.

4:16 PM CDT
New Tornado warnings out in Colorado. The main one of concern is in Pueblo county. Although over open terrain right now, there are several small towns that could potentially be affected by this storm. This storm is showing rapid rotation on radar. The warning is in effect until 3:30 PM MDT.

The other tornado warning is for Kiowa and Prowers counties until 4:00 PM MDT. This storm will affect mainly rural areas of Prowers county.

Elsewhere, the SPC has issued Severe Thunderstorm Watch #587. This watch box covers portions of eastern Wyoming, western Nebraska, western South Dakota, and northern Colorado.

2:02 PM CDT
The Tornado warning for portions of eastern Coloado has been extended into Cheyenne and Kit Carson counties in Colorado. It remains in effect until 2:00 PM MDT.

This storm has a history of producing tornadoes. So far there have been three reported. One of them was rainwrapped. This is a very dangerous situation. If the tornado is obscured by rain, you will likely be unable to see it.

The SPC has issued Severe Thunderstorm Watch #585. This watch box covers the coastal region in North and South Carolina, and rrmains in effect until 9:00 PM EDT.

The SPC has issued Severe Thunderstorm Watch #586. This watch covers most of central Mississippi. It remains in effect until 7:00 PM CDT.

1:17 PM CDT
The National Weather Service in Denver has issued a Tornado Warning for northeastern Lincoln county in eastern Colorado until 12:45 MDT. At 12:18 PM MDT National Weather Service Doppler Radar indicated a thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado. This storm was 6 miles north of Arriba, Colorado. This storm is moving southeast at 15 MPH.

Arriba will be affected by this storm. If you are in this area, please take shelter immediately.

There is a slight risk of severe storms over a broad area of the plains today -- including eastern Colorado, the Oklahoma and Texas panhandles, and western Kansas.

We have decided to not have any audio mostly due to copyright law. If a chaser is playing the radio or music in the background it could be copyright infringement if we rebroadcast it.
