Campo, CO Extreme Close-Up Tornado

Andy Gabrielson shoots some extremely close-range footage of a tornado in southeast Colorado on Monday, May 31, 2010.

A tornado touches down near Campo, CO and crosses the road about 50 yards in front of Andy's vehicle. This tornado was streamed live on the ChaseCam Network and on The Weather Channel.

RE: Video

Hi there! Sometimes when a chaser gets very close to a storm, the storm itself can interrupt the feeds. You will see this with a number of the chasers on any network you watch. The electrical energy inside the storm has a weird effect on equipment sometimes hehe. You will notice, the further away they are from the storm, the better reliability with the feeds.

Hope that helps relieve some of your frustration!
Take care and stay safe!

re: Video

He doesn't purposely "shut off" the feed... in the areas he chases, sometimes the data connection is very poor.

He is trying to stream the SAME video you see here to The Weather Channel and other TV outlets at the same time, so trust me, he doesn't shut it off if he can help it.

It's easy to stream a "great stream" when you are sitting still... but then when you are getting after the tornado, you go down one big hill or cross into a new cellular area and BOOM it's gone.

So ok I have to go to the Chase Cam network to see Andy's footage live. I always notice when he has a good shot going here at SS he then shuts off the feed to this site which is a huge disappointment for those watching. I'd rather he didn't stream to SS if he's just gonna tease viewers. Can understand he wants to make $ but

man u better be careful

man u better be careful m8...next time u mite not be so lucky.

WHAT WAS THAT WHITE THING???

from the 1:01-1:02 mark..it was hauling arse whatever it was!
