Winter Storm Warning - February 16, 2009

Our team was prepared days in advance for this system that was expected to be winter warned on arrival. As we headed up the mountains towards Big Bear, CA, we experiences moderate snowfall, totaling up to 5 inches by the overnight hours. The 16th however brought much heavier snowfall, including icy roads, complete road closures, and white out and blizzard conditions. After experiencing about 6 hours of the storm, we decided to head down he mountain to experience the storm first hand, from the inland areas. The system produced over 3 feet of snow in just a few hours in the mountains, and thunderstorms with lightning, hail, and flash flooding dominated the inland areas.
