Severe Weather Awareness - SD/MN

The SevereStudios Team will be participating in Severe Weather Awareness week in South Dakota and Minnesota. This includes Chase Team members attending yearly SKYWARN Spotter Training Classes in Madison, SD.

Severe Weather Awareness Week for South Dakota and Minnesota: April 21-25, 2008

April 21st through the 25th is Severe Weather Awareness Week in both South Dakota and Minnesota. Simulated tornado watches and warnings will be issued during the week to test the statewide warning and communications systems.

The statewide tornado drill for South Dakota will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2008.

Test Watch - 10:00 am CDT/9:00 am MDT

Test Warning - 10:15 am CDT/9:15 am MDT

Cancellation - 10:30 am CDT/9:30 MDT

Tornado drills for Minnesota will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2008. The schedule for April 24th is as follows:
(all times CDT)

9:00 AM: The National Weather Service will issue a simulated tornado watch for Minnesota.

1:45 PM: The National Weather Service will issue a simulated tornado warning for Minnesota counties. Note that most cities and counties statewide will activate outdoor warning siren systems.

2:00 PM: The National Weather Service will issue an "End of Test" message using the Severe Weather Statement product. It should be stated that outdoor warning sirens will not be sounded again for this all clear, nor will there be any warning tone on NOAA Weather Radio.
