DOLLY IS A CATEGORY TWO HURRICANE ON THE SAFFIR-SIMPSON SCALE.

More damage reports coming in now. Power is out to South Padre Island, and there are numerous reports of power lines and power poles down around the city of Brownsville, TX.

Reports of damage are already beggining to come in out of the Brownsville area. According to the Allisonhouse Local Storm Reports feed, the roof of a mobile home has been blown off in Cameron county. The Brownsville ASOS was recording gusts of 60 MPH at the time.

Hurricane Dolly is now a Category Two Hurricane!

Tornado Warning for Nueces and San Patricio counties in Texas, including the city of Corpus Christi.

According to the latest information from the hurricane hunter aircraft flying Dolly, Dolly has strengthened to a 95 MPH Category 1 hurricane. 95 MPH puts Dolly on the high end of Category 1. Conditions are expected to deteriorate rapidly over the next two hours in Brownsville, TX with landfall expected right on the Texas/Mexico international border. According to the National Hurricane Center, it looks like Brownsville will take a near direct hit from the eye of Dolly.

The National Weather Service has issued another tornado warning for Cameron, Hidalgo, and Willacy counties in south Texas. This second tornado warning is for areas a little further to the northwest of the original warning. This tornado warning is effective until 7:45 AM CDT.
This tornado will be near Willimar, Porfirio, Lyford, Sebastian, Santa Rosa, and La Villa Texas. If you live in any of these communities, please take cover immediately.

Hurricane Dolly is expected to make landfall today. Along with high winds, heavy surf, torrential rains, and storm surge, there is also a threat for isolated tornados.
As I type this, The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for Cameron, Hidalgo, and Willacy counties in south Texas until 7:15 AM CDT. National Weather Service doppler radar indicated a tornado 18 miles northeast of Harlingen valley airport. This doppler indicated tornado was moving southwest at 46 MPH.
Porfiro, Santa Monica, Sabestian, Primero, and Santa Rosa Texas are in the path of this doppler indicated tornado. If you live in these communities, please take cover immediately.
The Storm Prediction Center has Tornado Watch #732 effective until 10:00 AM CDT today. This watch covers deep south Texas and the associated coastal waters
