Heat Wave Strikes America's Heartland

A "Heat Wave" has been pounding America's Heartland over the weekend and there is currently no end in sight. Temperatures over 100 degrees have stretched from Yankton, SD all the way to San Antonio, Texas. The heat has caused numerous health problems for individuals, including a few deaths.

Many parts of the country will continue dealing with extreme heat this week. The National Weather Service has issued numerous
Extreme Heat Warnings and Heat Advisories

Sioux Falls, SD experienced a "HEAT BURST" on Sunday morning.

Between 415 am and 445 am CDT this Sunday morning August 3rd, the city of Sioux Falls experienced a convective heat burst. Temperatures rose rapidly from the lower 70s to 101 degrees in a very short time. This rapid rise in temperature was also associated with wind gusts of 50 to 60 mph, as well as a rapid drop in dew points. The official high temperature will be 99 degrees as with automated weather stations, only the 5 minute mean temperature and dew point are used.

Todays forecast for my area (Norman OK) 107, new record high. Of course its the day I will be running errands all day. OMG I hate the heat. 105 tomorrow and then we get a cool down to around 100 for a while
