Biography

My name is George Hayes and I am based out of NW Indiana. I own a photography business from which I function as a Weather Photographer. I have been storm spotting/chasing for four years now, almost five. I chase an average of 50 storms a year through Missouri, Illinois,Indiana, Michigan and Ohio generally. I am a HAM radio operator (KC9LYI), a trained/certified Emergency Response Team member through the Department of Homeland Security. FEMA certified in the Incident Command System and Anticipating Hazardous Weather & Community Risk. I attend all local NWS, SKYWARN and FEMA classes yearly. I am an active member of IMO SKYWARN. I am SAR (Search and Rescue) certified. My chase partner and I not only operate as spotters/chasers and photographers, but also have set ourselves up locally as a Severe Weather Response Unit. We are completely mobile with live feed radar, tools, SAR gear, local law enforcement radio contact and more to act as spotters/chasers and also respond to areas hit at the request of local law enforcement and/or emergency management for assistance in clean-up operations, Search and Rescue, clearing roadways and emergency through ways of fallen trees and debris. We both have prior emergency medical and firefighter experience and are certified Red Cross Disaster Managers.
