About
Ive been literally obsessed with the weather but more importantly severe weather my whole life. I can remember listening to a local radio station KFDI as a child whenever we had severe stroms in the area. That is what sparked my intrests in storm chasing. I witnessed my first tornado at the age of 5 on April 26, 1991 as the "Haysville/Wichita/Andover" tornado passed within a 1 1/2 mile of where I lived at that time. My first chase took place on 6/12/04 down by Mulvane, KS. I hit the jackpot that day as we all did:) Ive had several chases over the last 5 years since then but didnt actually start chasing for real until 4/24/07 for the Nickerson, KS tornado event. I also hit the jackpot with that paticular storm in that I was able to film the entire life cycle of that storm from when it first started to rotate to when it finally become outflow dominate N of Nickerson. I was able to film at extreme close range at times almost directly under the area of rotation. At one point during that chase I was able to capture the TIV driving into the circulation of a developing tornado from only 300 yrds away. In 2007 I racked up 900 miles and in 2008 racked up 1700 miles and have captured 13 tornadoes. This year I wont be chasing as much as I have over the past 2 years beacuse we are expecting our 2nd child on 2/15/09, SO money will be tight this year. But this is my main motivation to joining the severestudios.com community. This website allows me to take part in severe weather events without leaving my home and for that I am truely greatfull. I am excited for this website and I want to be apart of the experience so long as this site is around and will help out in anyway that I can. Looking forward to a long relationship with this community.
