About
I acquired an interest in weather in 1992 at the age of 5 when Hurricane Andrew struck South Florida. My dad's job took him to Miami for 2 months as a supervisor over telephone line repairs. My family and I flew down to visit him, and after seeing the amazing destruction I was hooked for life.
The Superstorm of March 1993 also served to strengthen my love for weather. What a great surprise that was when I woke up.
I got an early start in the Plains at the age of 13. Since 2000 my parents and I have taken a yearly chase vacation to the Plains in May or June. Needless to say, after my first chase I was addicted. Over the years I have gradually obtained more and more tools and gadgets. I always dreamed of being able to stream live video while chasing, and thanks to SevereStudios that dream has become a reality.
I saw my first tornado in Kansas in 2002 with the help of some lightning. In 2004 I observed a tornado near Albany, Missouri and in 2005 I tagged a tornado in South Dakota. 2007 brought a tornado in Northwest Kansas. 4 tornadoes in 8 years of chasing, but nothing spectacular. Finally hard work and good forecasting paid off in late May 2008. In 3 days my family and I saw 11 tornadoes in Northwest Kansas and Central Oklahoma. I finally hit the jackpot, and I was so glad that I was able to share it with the world through SevereStudios.
At present I am a senior meteorology major at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, AL. I am working towards getting a job in the National Weather Service. Outside of meteorology I love golf and especially bowling in which I have around a 220 average.
Late in 2008 I was fortunate enough to be a part of Hurricane Gustav in Gulfport, MS and Hurricane Ike in Beaumont, TX. Streaming storm surge and hurricane force winds during Gustav was an absolute blast. Hopefully 2009 will provide more great chasing opportunities.
