About
I became fascinated with weather when I was 6 growing up in NW Ohio. Before that time I disliked thunderstorms. Then one night my dad took me out on the front porch and we both watched a storm come through. That was the best way to get over my fear and I have enjoyed watching storms ever since. I actually saw a funnel in MI while at my families summer cottage. As everyone else got inside, my dad, grandpa and myself all stood out on the dock and watch it cross the lake to touch down just on the other side.
I had toyed with meteorology but am not the best in math so I got a degree in my other passion. I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts back in '96. Although I did take a severe weather class as to fulfill a science credit. I then moved to MD and also had a 2 year stint in Los Angeles for a job transfer for my husband.
We moved back to MD in 2002 and decided to start a family. I currently stay at home with our two daughters ages 5 and 3. I currently have a small basic wireless weather station, but would like to get a more intermediate one in the future. I have toyed abound with going to spotter training, but having the two little ones and my husbands work hours have prevented me from that at this time. I am currently deciding on a media of art that I can do in my limited space. Our current town home does not afford me the space for a studio. I have gotten into some photography and am good with composition but need to learn more of the technical side.
I choose fan in the above weather experience, but I do think of myself as more than a fan. I would like to learn more. My 5 year old is already hooked and she enjoys watching the radar with me. I am not a regular contributer to weather forms as I am quite the novice. But I do like to read and learn from them.
