About
I grew up in central Ohio and married my high school sweetheart. We have been married for 38 years and have one son.He has blessed us with four wonderful granddaughters, who all live near us.We moved to Georgia 8 years ago from South Florida to be near our son and his family.I got hooked on weather at a early age, seeing my first tornado while in the sixth grade.I was only 1/4 of a mile away from the twister when it hit a friends barn.To see that barn explode from the force of the rotating winds was awesome. To see straw embedded in trees and cement blocks was something I'll never forget.I've seen four in all and can't wait to see the next one.My wife and I have been Skywarn spotters for several years and have gotten to know all the forecasters and Meteorologists at the local NBC station in Augusta,Georgia very well.We always volunteer when ever they have events.I received a Davis Vantage Pro2 weather station as a Christmas gift from my wife,so I've been like a kid in a candy store ever since.I'm now learning the GRLevel3 radar software I just downloaded.I hope to one day go out to the Plains and storm chase with an experienced chase team.If you don't have a weather radio, get one, they save lives.

Great story Rick. It is very nice to see people with an interest in weather and here their stories. Most start with an experience at a young age but I see more and more saying "well I saw a movie or a show or something just happend, etc". Best of luck to you on your ventures on chasing in the plains...

Greetings from upstate, New York
Hello Rick!!!!
When i was a little girl i remember living in Bryan, Ohio and hearing those tornado sirens. IT would scare me to death. I also remember seeing all those warnings on tv and i was only 5 years old. To this day i dream about tornados coming my way from the distance and running from them. I am no chaser or proffessional just someone who is interested in weather. It amazes me how these people can take chances as they do. Im waiting to see my first tornado on these live cameras. IT seems when they get to the part where i think one is going to show my streaming ends and i have to try to keep starting it. I have cable high speed and i would think it would be alright. I also have no volume at all on my video streaming. DO they automatically have the volume on when the chasers choose to or is it because i have a problem with my volume at this end? Im new to this. It seems so scary being out there and am thankful i can sit at home and watch them. If i was out there chasing they would probably have to kick me out of the vehicle because i would be a mess.
