About
My passion for weather has been part of my life since childhood, where I began tracking weather and collecting various rain and temperature data during winter El Nino events. I became fascinated with severe weather during Southern California's summer monsoon season, with its flavor of intense rain, hail, lightning, and high winds. The infamous Santa Ana winds, with it's destructive hurricane force winds, would leave its mark of fascination as well.
I have been storm chasng for over 20 years, spending my summers roaming the local mountains and deserts during monsoon season. Monsoon season continues to keep me quite busy during the summer, and I'll spend considerable amounts of time tracking and chasing monsoon thunderstorms throughout the deserts of SoCal and Arizona. And what is a thunderstorm without lightning? My fascination for lightning keeps me busy pulling all-nighters photographing and videographing its awesome beauty. Add flash flooding, microbursts, and hail and it's a storm chase fest, monsoon-style ;).
During Southern Califorina's winter and early spring seasons, Pacific systems deliver severe thunderstorms, hail, waterspouts, funnel clouds, widespread flooding, and mountain/desert snowstorms. I am always out and about chasing these events.
I am a NWS spotter and Skywarn trained.
In 2008 I provided live streaming coverage of the Freeway-Complex wildfire for KABC-TV News in Los Angeles through Severe Studios. I officially joined the Severe Studios team in 2009 and provided tornado video, live chase stream, and a live phone interview for KSN-TV in Wichita, KS.
When I am not following weather, I try and spend time doing other things I enjoy such as fishing, hiking, and camping.
My day job finds me as I.T. Manager for an aerospace contractor located in the Orange County area of Southern California.
Being part of the Severe Studios team has been an enriching experience for me, and I am proud to be part of this team.
