All National Watches and Warnings

Another winter storm will move across the plains through Sunday night bringing a mixture of rain, freezing rain, sleet and snow. By Sunday morning, moisture will be lifted over a stalled boundary into the cold air causing mixed precipitation.

Temperatures will be critical in determining what type of precipitation falls. Across parts of Kansas, temperatures are forecast to remain right around freezing setting up the possibility for freezing rain and freezing drizzle. Just a little further north, a mixture of freezing rain, sleet and snow is likely. It is forecast to be cold enough for all snow across north central Kansas into Missouri and Iowa.

NWS Topeka, KS
NWS Kansas City, MO

Accumulations of snow and ice will also fluctuate with the highest snow totals expected to be across north central and northeast Kansas. With better chances for freezing rain over east central Kansas, ice accumulations could be around a quarter to half of an inch with lower snow amounts.

Areas of mixed precip will spread into northern Missouri and continue through Sunday night, mainly in the form of sleet and snow from the Interstate 70 corridor northward, with a wintry mix further south. Heavy snow looks likely from northeast Kansas into northeast Missouri.
