Death Valley Hits Record

Death Valley hit another record high temperature on Friday, July 9. A scorching 130 degrees Fahrenheit broke the daily record and even entered the top 5 highest temperatures ever recorded.

The temperature on Friday tied a record set on August 16, 2020. Both temps share the third spot in the “Top 5” highest temperature rankings.

Death Valley holds the number 1 spot in the rankings with the highest temperature ever recorded on Earth. That was 134F set on July 10, 1913.

Another heat record was broken in Death Valley on Sunday, July 11. The 24 hour minimum temperature at Stovepipe Wells only dropped to a sultry to 107.7 degrees Fahrenheit. This beat the old North American record set in Death Valley at Furnace Creek of 107F on July 12, 2012.

The world record for highest 24 hour minimum temperature is 108.7F and was set on June 26, 2018 in Qurayyat, Oman.
